- Earned his medical degree from the University of Benghazi, Libya.
- Completed his neurosurgery residency and neuro-spine fellowship at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada.
- Pursued an additional fellowship in complex spine and trauma at Sunnybrook Hospital, University of Toronto.
- Underwent three years of clinical training focusing on:
- Neurotrauma
- Open cerebrovascular surgery
- Skull base surgery

- Served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
