Al-Azhar Islamic Academy is a WASC-accredited Islamic elementary school located in Fresno, CA, serving TK through Grade 6 with a curriculum that integrates California academic standards with Arabic language, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies.
On Monday, August 17, 2026, the halls of Al-Azhar Islamic Academy (AIA) in Fresno, California came alive with excitement as students, families, teachers, and staff gathered for our First Day Assembly — officially kicking off the 2026–2027 school year. From our youngest learners in Transitional Kindergarten to our Grade 6 students, the morning was filled with joy, nervous smiles, and a shared sense of purpose as our community came together to begin another year of faith, character, and academic growth.
Welcoming Our AIA Family Back to Campus
At Al-Azhar Islamic Academy, the first day of school is more than a return to the classroom — it’s a reaffirmation of our mission: nurturing well-rounded, globally minded students raised with Islamic values, empowered to excel academically while staying grounded in faith. This year’s assembly reflected exactly that spirit.
Families arrived early at our campus on 1284 E Bullard Ave, Fresno, CA 93710, where our registration and administration teams greeted each student personally. Teachers welcomed their new classes with warmth, and the atmosphere on campus captured what makes AIA special: a close-knit community where every child is known and valued.
Inside the Assembly: Faith, Community, and Excitement
The assembly opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, setting a tone of gratitude and reflection for the year ahead. Our administration then addressed students and parents, sharing the school’s vision for the 2026–2027 academic year and reminding our AIA community of the four pillars that guide everything we do:
- Elementary Curriculum aligned with California academic standards.
- Arabic Language instruction for every grade.
- Qur’an memorization and tajweed.
- Islamic Studies, rooted in daily character and practice.
Students were introduced to their teachers and classrooms, welcomed with cheerful chants, and given a taste of the community spirit that defines life at AIA throughout the year.
Looking Ahead to the 2026–2027 School Year
As Al-Azhar Islamic Academy begins this new academic year, our focus remains the same as it has always been: providing Fresno families with a nurturing Islamic environment where faith, character, and academic excellence grow together. We are grateful to every family who trusts AIA with their child’s education, and we look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and community.
